For the Stonewood Products building in Harwich, we designed a different approach. Why not mount the stone on layers of movable sliding doors that would allow for a greater number of samples to fit in the same area.
Lineal custom built steel frames in which the stone samples were connected. Each door weighs approximately 1200 pounds. The doors were then hoisted up and hung via industrial beam trolleys onto a steel beam connected into the buildings structure. The beam trolleys are industrial tools designed to move extremely heavy objects by rolling inside steel “I” beams. It takes a bit of effort to get 1200 lbs moving, but once they get going its a smooth roll down the beam and another set of samples are ready to view behind.
